The AATF is the only professional association devoted exclusively to the needs of French teachers at all levels. Our mission is to advance the study of the French language and French-speaking literatures and cultures both in schools and in the general public.

We provide professional development support to teachers through our materials, online community, chapter events, and annual convention. We have developed a whole array of resources to help teachers move to online instruction. We are involved in national and local advocacy efforts to promote and defend French programs. We sponsor National French Week, the National French Contest (Grand Concours) and the Société Honoraire de Français and Jeunes Amis du Français.
